At its best, New Music asks questions about contemporary life and provides unique ways of thinking that can change society for the better.
Each concert this season represents a tangible action we think will help create a better world.
Actions are amplified with more voices, and we hope you will join us again this year.
Outside the Lines
Rhythm, much like most things in life, is a spectrum. Where one falls inside of that spectrum is usually somewhere in between.
The Collective performs two works for open ensemble that explore the space outside of the traditional rhythmic grid. Music by Julius Eastman, Orynn Murphy, and Jordan Benator.
Microvariations
By looking at something up close, we can see the details hidden in plain sight. The Collective Chamber Orchestra examines multiple pieces by the same composer.
Featuring music by Sky Macklay and Andrew Rodriguez, including the world premiere of Andrew’s new concerto for guitarist Jamie Monck.

Music In Space & Time
How can music from throughout time help us understand the current moment? The Collective explore these connections through new and old works for percussion quartet.
The Collective is proud to partner with Atlanta-based Early Music Ensemble Ayres & Graces for this show as part of the Georgia State University’s SoundNOW contemporary music festival.

After running an international Call for Scores with the theme of exploring composers’ ties to the state of Georgia, we present a concert of chamber music from the selected composers.

Reflect/Refract
How can orchestra stay “relevant” in the current sociopolitical climate? We explore new orchestral repertoire by living composers that push the boundary of sound, improvisation, relevance, and theatre.

Ocarina Festival
No instrument is ever just a novelty, so we collaborated with Georgia-based Ocarinists to present a concert of new works for ocarina, ocarina ensembles, and mixed chamber ensembles including ocarinas by Collective composers.

4: 1, 2, or 3
World premieres of new works by Collective and guest composers for solo, duo, and trio combinations, each celebrating Christian Wolff’s piece “For 1, 2, or 3 People”

Salon Concerts
Small Group (10 > Musicians)
These are our solo and small ensemble concerts. Salons are often curated around a particular theme, or the curation is led by a Collective member - and these shows are often a little more intimate than our larger shows.

Orchestra
Core Ensemble (10 + Musicians)
Made up of our Core Musicians, the Collective Orchestra is our premiere ensemble. It’s a one-on-a-part chamber orchestra or sinfonietta, where every musician is a principal player. Conducted by ATLCMC Music Director, Dr. Bryan Wysocki.

Large Ensemble (Varying Sizes)
Often open to the wider public, Collaboration events are your chance to join the Collective for a performance. Often our Season Finale concerts, these are much more informal concert events that are meant to bring the most amount of people into the world of contemporary music.
